Many
families do not want to go through the hassle and trauma
of opening up a loved ones house to strangers to rifle
through their items and their home. Instead, families
prefer to take the items that mean the most to them
and sell the rest of the estate as a whole. This is
also great for families that need to move quickly in
order to settle an estate. Full estate sale services
are also available, sometimes this can be the best solution.
Each situation is different and we understand the need
to consider each on a case by case basis. We will always
recommend what we feel is in your best interest as the
family.
In
the case of an estate sale, we prices all items, opens
the house to customers and sell in a timely fashion
and either cleans the house afterwards or leaves it
for the family, as would be agreed upon before the sale
occurs. This service requires taking a percentage of
the sales of anywhere from 30% to 50%. Depending on
the value of the sale and whether or not there is a
full cleanout at the end. Most sales fall in the 30
to 35% range. Again, we help you determine on a case
by case basis what works best for you and your family.

price includes removing all items from the house in

of the time our price will be similar to the money made
in an Estate sale, but paid on the spot, without waiting
for the sale to be set up and executed, which can take
weeks or even months.
In the past, we have found that families love this service,
especially when the house needs to be sold quickly.

do free consultations and evaluations on estates. Our
reputation is important to us and we want you to recommend

We
offer pricing services at an hourly rate and packets
of information on how to do the sale efficiently yourself.
The information includes everything from advertising,
to how many buyers to let in at once and best methods
for set up.
It’s
always good to have an expert come in first to check
your items because while you may be selling them at
a clearing price, you don’t want to give away
something valuable for pennies on the dollar. It never
hurts to check first.

how many stories I've heard when people come into the
shop and explain to me how they threw boxes of china
or costume jewelry into a dumpster thinking it was worthless.

- The
Antiques Roadshow Myth
Many
people come into our store talking about the Antiques
Roadshow and how amazing it is to see those rare items
coming out of the woodwork. I love that show and it
is amazing and fun to watch. The key to that phrase
is the word RARE.
It
takes millions of people bringing in millions of items
to find that rare and expensive piece. Now.. that’s
not to say that there are not rare and unusual things
hiding in attics, but generally if you were a normal
middle class family with normal middle class things
and your family are not descendants of the Rockefeller’s
the chances of having that million dollar item is very
unlikely.
The good news is, many common household items from the
1900's are collectible today and do have resale value.
Again,
don’t throw anything away and
don’t be disappointed if some of your items are
$5.00 each, because that adds up quickly !!
